Keeping the Wheels Turning: Volunteers Needed for STP Host Night

Hospitality is at the very heart of who we are. Once again, our church is committed to serve as a host site for the Seattle to Portland (STP) bike event on Saturday, July 11th. We are nearly fully booked with a current count of 61 registered guests.  This is a big jump up from last year. In previous years, our community has stepped up beautifully to cook meals, welcome riders, and provide a comfortable place to sleep.

This year, our teamwork is being put to the test. Several of our crucial worker-bees are unable to assist, leaving us with a significant shortage of helpers.

We want to keep this wonderful tradition alive, but we can't do it alone. If you can give a few hours of your time on Saturday, July 11th or Sunday, July 12th, you can ensure these riders are fed and cared for. Grab a pen and visit the sign-up clipboard in the Narthex or call the church office to find out how you can help shore up the team.

Call Committee Update: July 3, 2026

Following up on our last report, we have completed the 2nd round of interviews with the husband-and-wife ministry team provided by the Synod staff: Candidate #10 (Pastor) and Candidate #11 (Deacon).

We are delighted to report that both candidates left a unanimous, positive impression on the entire committee. We feel a sense of excitement about what they could bring to our congregation and community.  Our next step is to present our formal recommendation to the Church Council to invite this team to visit us here at Immanuel for the congregation to meet them.

Thank you so much for your continued prayers, patience, and faith throughout this journey. We can truly feel the spirit at work in this process.

Book Club

We met on July 1st to discuss THEO OF GOLDEN, by Allen Levi. We have the highest praise for this book - the many characters, the research required, and the author.  It tops our list of “best reads”. Since these books were purchased, any of our readers will be happy to share and let you borrow their copy. Next month’s book is THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY, written by Matt Haig, and will be reviewed at our next meeting on August 5.

All are welcome, there is no membership.

Pick up a book and come join us.
Reminder….please return books by the day of discussion
