Please be in prayer for the call committee and the process. Please pray that the right pastor is connected to the team and that the Call Committee is open to God’s leading them to Immanuel.
Dear Immanuel Community,
I have been blessed to serve you. When I signed up to be your “Bridge” Pastor, I understood that I would be here until the Johnson’s arrived. I signed my contract through June. This limitation was because of previous obligations. Unfortunately, the Johnson’s decided not to follow the call at Immanuel, and the community remains in the process of calling a new pastor.
Though I prayed about staying at Immanuel, my previous obligations remain. This has nothing to do with anything regarding Immanuel. I truly enjoyed my time working with the community. You are an amazing congregation, and I have been blessed to worship and work with you. Unfortunately, this season has come to an end.
Please continue the welcoming work that you have been doing, serving your community, and blessing your neighbors as the Spirit leads you. I wish you much love and continued peace as you journey as followers of Jesus Christ.
Gratefully,
Pastor Norm

Keeping the Wheels Turning: Volunteers Needed for STP Host Night
Hospitality is at the very heart of who we are. Once again, our church is committed to serve as a host site for the Seattle to Portland (STP) bike event on Saturday, July 11th. We are nearly fully booked with a current count of 61 registered guests. This is a big jump up from last year. In previous years, our community has stepped up beautifully to cook meals, welcome riders, and provide a comfortable place to sleep.
This year, our teamwork is being put to the test. Several of our crucial worker-bees are unable to assist, leaving us with a significant shortage of helpers.
We want to keep this wonderful tradition alive, but we can't do it alone. If you can give a few hours of your time on Saturday, July 11th or Sunday, July 12th, you can ensure these riders are fed and cared for. Grab a pen and visit the sign-up clipboard in the Narthex or call the church office to find out how you can help shore up the team.
Call Committee Update: June 26, 2026
The Call Committee met on Monday, June 22. We conducted a Zoom interview with Candidates #10 and #11, a husband-and-wife ministry team. They are a Pastor and Deacon respectively.
This concluded our interviews for the current group of candidates provided by the Synod staff. After careful evaluation, the Call Committee determined that Candidates #8 and #9, whom we interviewed last week, are not the right fit for Immanuel. Consequently, they have been notified that they are no longer under consideration.
Moving forward, we have invited Candidates #10 and #11 back for a second round of interviews, and they have graciously accepted. While their initial Zoom interview was conducted as a team, they will be interviewed separately for this next round. These interviews are scheduled for June 29 and July 1.
Both candidates must individually meet the unanimous approval threshold established by the Call Committee before we recommend that the Church Council invite them to Immanuel for an in-person visit.
We appreciate your continued prayers and support as the Call
Book Club
Book Club met on June 3 to critique CLOUD CUCKOO LAND but it didn't click even among those who read it. Cuckoo was right. There were too many characters in multiple places in time periods from the 1500´s to futuristic living in outer space, all wrapped up in ancient literature such as the Iliad and the Archimedes Codex.
Our next book, THEO OF GOLDEN, was chosen based on a recommendation by Pastor Norm. We purchased it outright rather than waiting for Timberland book club copies. THEO OF GOLDEN is available at the church. We had a generous donor so the books are free.
We will meet on July 1st at 10am to discuss it. All are welcome, there is no membership.
Pick up a book and come join us.
Reminder….please return books by the day of discussion
