Keeping the Wheels Turning: Volunteers Needed for STP Host Night
Hospitality is at the very heart of who we are. Once again, our church is committed to serve as a host site for the Seattle to Portland (STP) bike event on Saturday, July 11th. We are nearly fully booked with a current count of 61 registered guests. This is a big jump up from last year. In previous years, our community has stepped up beautifully to cook meals, welcome riders, and provide a comfortable place to sleep.
This year, our teamwork is being put to the test. Several of our crucial worker-bees are unable to assist, leaving us with a significant shortage of helpers.
We want to keep this wonderful tradition alive, but we can't do it alone. If you can give a few hours of your time on Saturday, July 11th or Sunday, July 12th, you can ensure these riders are fed and cared for. Grab a pen and visit the sign-up clipboard in the Narthex or call the church office to find out how you can help shore up the team.
Call Committee Update: June 18, 2026
The Call Committee met on Tuesday, June 16, and Wednesday, June 17, to conduct interviews with Candidates #8 and #9. While both possessed unique strengths, neither was deemed the right fit for Immanuel. Consequently, we have released Candidates #8 and #9 from further consideration.
Our next interview is scheduled for June 22. This will be a joint Zoom interview with Candidates #10 and #11, who are a husband-and-wife ministry team (he is a senior pastor and she is a deacon). While we typically interview candidates separately, we chose to conduct a joint interview to maximize our remaining time in June, especially with summer vacations fast approaching. This allows us the flexibility to schedule a second interview before the end of the month if we choose to move forward.
We are fully aware that being without a permanent pastor is a hardship for our entire congregation. The Call Committee remains deeply committed to finding the right spiritual leader for Immanuel, and we ask for your continued prayers and patience throughout this process.
Let Your Colors Fly
Wear bright and colorful for
RIC Sunday on the 28th.
Dear Immanuel Community,
I have been blessed to serve you. When I signed up to be your “Bridge” Pastor, I understood that I would be here until the Johnson’s arrived. I signed my contract through June. This limitation was because of previous obligations. Unfortunately, the Johnson’s decided not to follow the call at Immanuel, and the community remains in the process of calling a new pastor.
Though I prayed about staying at Immanuel, my previous obligations remain. This has nothing to do with anything regarding Immanuel. I truly enjoyed my time working with the community. You are an amazing congregation, and I have been blessed to worship and work with you. Unfortunately, this season has come to an end.
Please continue the welcoming work that you have been doing, serving your community, and blessing your neighbors as the Spirit leads you. I wish you much love and continued peace as you journey as followers of Jesus Christ.
Gratefully,
Pastor Norm
Book Club
We met on May 6 to critique THE LINCOLN HIGHWAY, it’s characters, twists and turns. Unanimous favorite character is, of course, Billy. Go find him. Read the book. Our next book will be CLOUD CUCKOO LAND, by Anthony Doerr and should be available by Sunday, 5/10. We will meet on June 3rd to discuss it. You are welcome to pick up a book, sign the list, and join us.
Pick up a book and come join us.
Reminder….please return books by the day of discussion
Mary Martha will be having their annual picnic on WEDNESDAY, June 24th at Talking Cedars Restaurant, Hawks Prairie. Please meet at the church to leave by carpool at 11:30 am.
Please RSVP to Dorathea or Lynn by Monday, June 22nd.
