Book Club

Our book club met on June 4 to discuss The Buddha in the Attic by Julie Otsuka,

a fictional account of Japanese “picture brides” who came to the US in the early 1900s.

It was beautifully written, but sobering, and gave us much to discuss.

Our next book is Anxious People by Fredrik Backman.

We’ll meet to discuss it on Wednesday, July 2nd at 10:00 a.m.

Books are available--if you like to read, pick one up and join us!

Welcome Summer ~ The time to share is here!

The “Bring and Take Table” is set up at the front entrance door. It will be there through the summer for you to bring in anything that relates to the activity of gardening. Seeds, pots, tools and those little extra sprouts that are a shame to throw away are welcome. Later, flowers and vegetables. The is no charge for anything that is taken. We ask that you dust extra dirt off and label what you can. As the price of gardening continues to rise, this activity is very helpful to many of us.

Thank You from The Bring and Take Team   Questions? Message Susan at 360-506-2329

Message from the “A” Team

The goal of the our team is to provide needed support for the children in the Centralia School system wherever needed. However, sometimes we find that this leads to other needs. At a recent meeting with Pastor Patty Howard of the Gospel Mission and Gin Pak of the Salvation Army, they were asked of any ongoing unmet need for their missions. Both of them replied that they always need bedding for their overnight shelter ministries, that they never have enough. This need is for anything that can be machine washed. Sleeping bags, blankets, duvets, and sheets etc.

Much is available during this time of the putting away of winter bedding, garage sales, rummage sales and the source of several thrift stores. If you would like to help meet this need, you can bring any donation to the kitchen end of the gym and we will see to the distribution of it between the two agencies.

You will be helping to give a safe comfortable sleep to our homeless sisters and brothers. Question? Message Susan at 360-506-2329

Sunday School during the Summer

Thank you  to all people who have given of their time and energy to lead Sunday School for the last school year! Our children have experienced your love and dedication to faith through your efforts. Summer months are a good time to take a  break since many families have unpredictable schedules then so beginning this coming Sunday, June 1st there will be NO Sunday School and children will NOT be dismissed after the Children’s message.

This is an opportunity for us all to learn from the children in worship how to make a joyful noise together, learn together and praise God together!
